Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 1, 2026 • Effective Date: October 1, 2026

Summary in Plain English:

Instant Ruler does not require an account, does not collect your name or email, and does not upload your camera photos or physical measurements to any server. All calculations happen entirely in your local browser.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Unlike many online utilities, Instant Ruler is engineered with client-side isolation:

  • Photos & Camera Feeds: In the Image Measuring tool, when you select or take a photo, the image is rendered exclusively onto an HTML5 Canvas element in your browser's local memory. The image is never transmitted over the internet or saved to our servers.
  • Measurement Values: The dimensions, angles, and pixel coordinates you measure remain purely in memory while your tab is open.
  • Personal Identifiers: We do not ask for your name, phone number, physical address, or account login.

2. Local Storage Disclosures

Instant Ruler uses modern browser window.localStorage to remember your ergonomic preferences between visits. This data remains on your physical device:

3. Third-Party Services, Cookies & Advertising

To provide this measurement service free of charge, Instant Ruler may display advertisements served by third-party advertising partners such as Google AdSense.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings or via aboutads.info.

4. GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) Rights

For users residing within the European Economic Area (EEA), you possess statutory rights regarding personal data under the EU GDPR:

  • The right to access, rectify, or erase any personal information.
  • The right to withdraw consent for non-essential cookies via our consent settings.
  • Since we do not maintain user databases or store email logs on server disks, we do not retain identifiable profiles of visitors.

5. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data. Instant Ruler does not sell personal information as defined by California law.
